If you haven’t been along yet it’s time you visited Gina Czarnecki’s retrospective feast of installations at the Bluecoat in Liverpool. This show comprises some of Gina ‘s past and present installations. Apparently Gina is ‘a ground-breaking new media artist’; that doesn’t mean she is good with a pickaxe…. although I am confident that she would be if required. I think it means that she has her own unique take on making films, installations, public art works and sculpture which emphasise human relationships to disease, evolution and genetic research. Also coming soon are some debates based at that esteemed institute ‘the Bluecoat’ Liverpool about ethics of using human tissue in art projects.
By the way in case you were afraid to ask it’s pronounced “Chernetski” not zarneckie or somesuch. Gina is far too polite to correct you.
